I remember when I started in real estate back 20+ years ago now and I heard the phrase “Realtor for Life” at a conference I went to. I don’t really think I ever thought about how long I would stay in real estate or if it would be a lifetime but I do remember thinking, I want to be able to help people as long as I am able.
I will say that over the last 20 years there have been some rocky times as many of you know all too well. Market rising… and crashing…. Then slowly rising again and who the heck knows what’s next… I sure don’t! Trust me if I knew I would be very, very rich and likely on an island somewhere sipping Mai Tai’s.. lol!
But the one thing I have done is continue to stay in touch by writing these monthly letters. I know they aren’t really about real estate and you might wonder why.
Well I learned many years ago that the best kind of business you can have is one that is a relationship business, one where you get the privilege of working with people that know you, like you and trust you. And by building relationships one at a time it creates a business that hopefully lasts a lifetime.
I can honestly say that I have been lucky enough to have clients that in many cases have become like family to me and I feel so honored to be a part of your life even if it is hearing from you once in a while whether you have real estate needs or not. I genuinely love hearing about your life, the good stuff and the challenges… we all have them!
Well over the last couple weeks I have had 3 different clients call me that I sold homes to well over 10+ years ago and it was literally like picking up where we left off all those years ago. I truly remember every single client I have helped over the years and as crazy as it sounds I remember the homes you bought or sold as well.
One of my favorite stories is a very sweet family that when I sold them their first home, they were expecting their first child and recently after 11 years they attended our summer carnival with FOUR children, all adorable and ready for a bigger home.
I’m now seeing those same children that were babies when I sold their parents their first home, growing into adults themselves who are wanting to buy a home…. Yes I hate to admit I am that old.
But I will say that I still absolutely love that I can truly say for many I am their real estate agent for life and I consider it a true privilege that I get to be a part of your life.
