I know all too well how crazy this time of year can be.
I remember when my boys were little and how I had to have everything perfect.
I would run myself ragged trying to get it all done. And be so stressed out that I wouldn’t even enjoy the holidays.
I remember one Christmas eve having what seemed like a nervous breakdown when I realized I had forgotten to take the Turkey out of the freezer the day before and it was solid as a rock.
I burst into tears knowing for sure that Christmas was ruined and it was all my fault. All was not lost when I realized that Safeway was open and had turkeys that were already thawed.
Now that my kids are grown and have lives of their own, I realize that they really don’t remember any of the behind the scenes trauma I was going through in my quest to be the perfect mom.
What they remember is the time we spent laughing, joking and just being together. When I think back to what I loved the most, it was the children’s Christmas plays, the handmade ornaments, the love letters I always asked them to write, the time with family of which there are some that are no longer here on earth.
So if I could turn back time, I would have relaxed A LOT, not tried to do so much, made more homemade gifts, spent more time just staying in the moment….. which is where the TRUE MAGIC Happens.
My wish for you this season is to truly STAY IN THE MOMENT. Tell people what they mean to you, write personal notes and love letters. Don’t worry about the perfect dinner, the perfect gifts, the perfect decorations or even the Elf on the Shelf lol.
As for me, I am so incredibly grateful to have so many amazing people in my life and my hope is that in this coming year to spend more time reaching out, writing notes, more coffee dates or even more get together’s and telling each person in my life what you mean to me!
May you have the most wonderful Christmas and Happy New year!
Warmly,
Marguerite
